Head & Heart - an excerpt:
It speaks directly to difficulties I have had reconciling my emotions and intellect.
" You just need to encourage your head and heart to communicate regularly. Although this may sound silly, you can even imagine that they are doing this, much as caring partners would. Imagine that they are sending complementary messages to each other, something like this:
Dear Head. This is your Heart speaking. I love you dearly, and I am here to tell you that I’m completely in touch with my intuitive guidance. This means that I know exactly how to direct our healing energies for the benefit of our clients. Please trust that I will call upon you on every occasion, and that I have complete confidence in your skills and ability. Your friend, the Heart.
Dear Heart, Thank you for your encouragement. I, too, have faith in your wisdom and I acknowledge that our combined talents offer the best possibility for success. Please know that I support you in our work together, and that I am committed to our passion for healing. Your friend, the Head.
Try this exercise whenever you are tempted by despair or discouragement. Remember that mis-communication between the head and heart can be quite disruptive because it diverts your attention from the things you already know how to do, and interferes with the intuitive flow of energy that you use to facilitate the achievement of your intentions in this lifetime."
I actually did this in a song: "Hand of Glory" http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_4980168

Isn't there another way? Why can't WE make it?
My story has less to do with the past as it does with a vision of life going forward. It's clear that our world is changing radically - and quickly. Millions of people in America and around the world will not be going back to work - ever. Whole classes of jobs/careers have been eliminated through attrition, automation and/or aggregation. Many people my age (51) are not just unemployed - we're "unemployable". I propose that, rather than trying to re-enter a moribund system, we collectively re-create ourselves into a new, totally separate socio-economic system. I don't have a specific plan of action (yet), but I DO know that there are millions of skilled, intelligent people who are willing and able to come together for their own common good.
We are not worthless - in fact, we now have the opportunity to get 'off the grid' - not just the power grid, but the unending treadmill our society has become. I do not know what form this transformation will take, but it WILL happen. The 'system' has failed too many for too long. It's time to re-create ourselves in a way that insures the basis of human life on this planet is equitable, sustainable and free.

...from within...
A SPIRITUAL CONSPIRACY – “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
On the surface of the world right now there is
war and violence and things seem dark.
But calmly and quietly, at the same time,
something else is happening underground.
An inner revolution is taking place
and certain individuals are being called to a higher light.
It is a silent revolution.
From the inside out. From the ground up.
This is a Global operation.
It is a Spiritual Conspiracy
There are sleeper cells in every nation on the planet. You won’t see us on the T.V.
You won’t read about us in the newspaper.
You won’t hear about us on the radio.
We don’t seek any glory.
We don’t wear any uniform.
We come in all shapes and sizes, colors and styles
Most of us work anonymously
We are quietly working behind the scenes
In every country and culture of the world
Cities big and small, mountains and valleys, in farm and villages, tribes and remote islands
You could pass by one of us on the street
And not even notice.
We go undercover
We remain behind the scenes
It is of no concern to us who takes the final credit
But simply that the work gets done
Occasionally we spot each other in the street
We give a quiet nod and continue on our way
During the day many of us pretend we have normal jobs
But behind the false storefront of night
Is where the real work takes a place
Some call us the Conscious Army
We are slowly creating a new world
With the power of our minds and hearts
We follow, with passion and joy
Our orders come from the Central Spiritual Intelligence
We are dropping soft, secret love bombs when no one is looking
Poems – Hugs – Music – Photography – Movies – Kind words -
Smiles – Meditation and prayer – Dance – Social activism – Websites
Blogs – Random acts of kindness…
We each express ourselves in our own unique ways
With our own unique gifts and talents
BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD
That is the motto that fills our hearts
We know it is the only way real transformation takes place
We know that quietly and humbly we have the
Power of all the oceans combined
Our work is slow and meticulous,
Like the formation of mountains
It is not even visible at first glance
And yet with it, entire tectonic plates
Shall be moved in the centuries to come.
Love is the new religion of the 21st century
You don’t have to be a highly educated person
Or have any exceptional knowledge to understand it
It comes from the intelligence of the heart
Embedded in the timeless evolutionary pulse of all human beings
Be the change you want to see in the world
Nobody else can do it for you
We are now recruiting
Perhaps you will join us
Or already have
All are welcome
The door is open.

-my own 2 cents:
As the Light grows, the Darkness becomes more defined. That which has been hidden from view is coming into the Light - and the Darkness doesn't like it. It will fight for its survival, even in the face of all that is sensible and reasonable. Nevertheless, the Light is growing - it cannot be stopped. It is up to us to embrace it or reject it. Just remember - the more you fight, the harder it is to maintain the illusion that all is well in the dark, hidden realms. It is fear that drives many into dogmatic beliefs. The divisions of 'right' and 'wrong' are clearly defined - the old ways are a known quantity. The coming of the Light dispels the confusion and rigidity of the world in darkness. The outcome is unknown - and the unknown is feared, vilified and renounced as heresy. Still, the oppressed cry out for freedom - the comfortable experience discomfort - conventional wisdom flies out the window. All in all, the change is happening NOW - it is up to each of us to decide how we handle it.
What now?
I'm just putting it out there - I'm almost ready for the Next Big Thing in my life. There are a few things left to clear up here, but once that's done I feel the need to move on. The small town I'm in just isn't cutting it for me.
If anyone out there has any suggestions, reply to this post or email me at:

Who Am I?
I'm tired - tired of fighting life - tired of fighting myself - tired of trying to find meaning in this mean existence - tired of chasing an ancient dream...
"There are times when all the world's asleep
The questions run too deep for such a simple man
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned?
I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am."
--Supertramp - "The Logical Song"
Here are some 'I AM' statements about me:
- I am a songwriter
- I am a musician
- I am an artist
- I am a videographer
- I am a graphic designer
- I am a loving, caring soul
- I am an idealist
- I am a dreamer
- I am the dream
- I am an incorrigible punster - do not incorrige me...
- I am intelligent
- I am stupid
- I am ugly
- I am beautiful
- I am confused
- I am insane
- I am lucid
- I am taking medication for Panic Anxiety Disorder
- I am unemployed
- I am running out of money
- I am running out of time
- I am running out of options
- I am afraid.
None of these statements fully describes 'who I am'. All of these statements have an element of truth to them. All of these statements have an element of 'lie' about them.
Evidently, having an 'identity crisis' is the awareness that you've never had an identity to begin with...
So I smile - nod my head - go with whatever flow is pulling me at the moment - and hope for the best...

Requiem For A Toilet
"It seems to me if a toilet got too intelligent it'd QUIT!"
Those of us who toil endlessly for the mere pittance required for survival in this world are a lot like 'toil'ets - getting the leavings of big corporations and grateful for the work. Humanity is far more precious than that.
There ARE some benefits to being a toilet. First and foremost, it's SAFE. You know exactly what your function is - you might not LIKE the job, but at least it's a known quantity. You don't really want for anything - plenty of water and (used) food - you have your own room (well, you have to share it with Sink and Bathtub, but they don't cause much trouble) - you're securely bolted to the floor until your usefulness has been exhausted, at which time you'll be uprooted and buried in a landfill.
But when the bulldozer rolls over you, there will be no requiem. No one will come to your final resting place and say, "What a FINE toilet he was! He will be missed...". No - you'll just be replaced with a new toilet, while you molder in your grave, unremembered.
Life is too precious to be treated in such a thoughtless and uncaring way. Better to sustain yourself by farming - at least, when you put shit on THAT, something will grow! Love of money and fear of the unknown relegates most of us to a demeaning existence devoid of value and meaning. Even those 'in charge' are slaves to the system they promulgate.
We were never meant for this. Each of us yearns for something greater and more valuable than what we have now - something that no amount of money can buy, nor can it ever be taken away. Some turn to religion, but that's just another corporation - and you're still a toilet.
Be an intelligent toilet - QUIT!

Brain vs.Mind, part 3
Mind: You're not used to it. You're used to using fantasy to avoid stress. I'm just asking you to physically type words on a blog.
Brain: It feels weird...
Mind: I know...
Brain: ...and you KNOW that I can't type worth a crap!
Mind: You do well enough. This isn't a race - we can take our time.
Brain: Good thing...
Mind: OK - let's see - A doesn't equal A - logic is an invention of Man - Dualistic dichotomies - Higgs boson - mini black holes - dark matter is light...
Brain: WHOA! Slow down, mister mentality!
Mind: I'm just sorting through the thoughts I've had recently. I'm not going to tackle all of this right this minute.
Brain: Whew! Don't scare me like that! BTW - what does all of this have to do with the price of cheese in Switzerland?
Mind: Excuse me?
Brain: Where are you going with all this? Do you even know?
Mind: All of this stuff has been rattling around in me for a while now. I feel it's time to put it together and see if there are any valuable insights to be gained from all this cogitation.
Brain: Wait - did you mention VALUE?
Mind: Ah, yes - a personal issue...I don't seem to value who and what I am...
Brain: Maybe you should start there...?
Mind: Hey - you're pretty smart after all!
Brain: Well...I do what I can.
